Thriving in New England: a Consultation of Church Leaders

Thrive in New England? Is it possible? Could your congregation experience it? Here’s an opportunity to talk it over with other pastors and church leaders. This one-day consultation will be based on a qualitative research study of 32 New England churches that are clearly thriving – particularly in evangelism and discipleship in the communities where they are situated. The research was conducted by the Cecil B. Day Foundation and resulted in a 10-page report focusing on the common characteristics of the 32 thriving churches. This report will be sent to you, for advanced reading and study, as soon as you and your leaders register. For each participating group the central question will be: What does God want our church to be and to become in order to fulfill His mission in our community? Exposure to the Day Foundation report, along with interaction and insights from other evangelical leaders and congregations should do a lot to help answer that question FAQ's What's the difference between a conference and a consultation? The goal of this day is for church leaders to talk through issues and ideas in order to walk away from the event with a better understanding of what/where God is leading each congregation. The intent is for this to be a two-way conversation, compared to a conference where most of the time is spent listening to speakers. There will be several speakers, but the majority of time will be spent brainstorming, and sharing problems and experience. Facilitators will be present to keep the conversations focused and productive.  Who is this event for? This event is for pastors and church leaders desring to see their congregations share the gospel of Jesus Christ more effectively, thereby to increase the scope and influence of His Kingdom in their community. Do I need to pack a lunch? No, lunch is provided! We will also be serving complimentary tea and coffee throughout the day. Should I print my ticket before the event? Yes, please have your ticket on-hand at the time of this event. Please contact us with any additional questions you might have. We look forward to meeting you and your church leaders on June 20th!

Newburyport is very proud of its history and justifiably so, Newburyport staged the first tea party in opposition to England's tax on tea and it was well before the more famous one in Boston Mass. Newburyport is also proud to be the birth place of the United States Coast Guard since the first ship commissioned for the Coast guard was built here and named the frigate Massachusetts.

In the early 1960's, Newburyport used state and federal funds to launch a massive redevelopment scheme to reclaim its historic neighborhoods made of granite, cobblestones and to update their utilities such as water and sewer. At the same time in order to prepare for a profitable present and future, Newburyport built an industrial park which now houses many diversified small industries.

Many residents commute daily to Boston via Route 95 and on the commuter rail. Residents are proud of the fact that many families have lived in the city for generations, but they are just as proud of the fact that the city welcomes newcomers and the new ideas they bring. So come to Newburyport and experience the history, beauty and hospitality!
