Open-Mic Music Fest and Concert with Lucky 5 at the Bidwell House Museum
The Bidwell House Museum is inviting everyone who loves music to their second annual Open-Mic Music Festival and concert! Whether you are musician who loves to play or a music lover who enjoys listening to a live band, this family-friendly event will have something for everyone! Starting 12 pm, the first 2 hours of the show will be open-mic for any musician interested in playing. If you have a friend who is starting a band or you know someone who just likes to sing, tell them to sign up for the open-mic! After the open-mic, we will segue into a great concert with The Lucky 5, a jazz band that blends swing and gypsy jazz to create a unique blend of music that appeals to a wide range of music lovers. Enjoy their foot stompin’ sounds while relaxing under a tent in the park-like setting in front of the Museum. Guests are encouraged to bring a picnic and enjoy an afternoon of music.  Snacks and soft drinks will be available for purchase. Tickets purchased in advance are $10 per person, 18 and under are free.  Tickets purchased at the door will be $20 per adult, 18 and under are still free. Musicians interested in participating in the open-mic portion of the event should contact the Museum at 413-528-6888 or bidwellhouse@gmail.com by June 24 so they know how many acts to expect. The Open-Mic Music Festival is supported in part by a grant from the Tyringham Cultural Council.

Bidwell Country Fair

The Bidwell House Museum is inviting everyone to their beautiful grounds for a free community celebration.  There will be fun for the whole family all afternoon including: Live music in the tent:  The Adams Brothers, Steve and Pete, start the afternoon with a mix of roots, country soul and folk rock.  Then Bonner McAllester and Joe Baker, who have been playing for New England style square and contradancing for over 40 years with their band Mountain Laurel, will play jigs, reels and waltzes from their repertoire of dance tunes. Bonner plays hammered dulcimer, and Joe plays guitar. For the History buff: The Butler’s Rangers return this year to portray historic characters, including Quaker refugees, Loyalist soldiers and some baggage (the 18th century war term for women and children). They will set up a tent to show how they lived, dressed, cooked and spent their days during the time of the American Revolution. For the Baker: Back by popular demand is the Pie Baking Contest!  Show off your baking skills and drop off your delicious pie no later than 2pm.  Ribbons will be awarded for the top three pies judged by local chefs. FIND ALL OF THE DETAILS HERE.  If you plan to enter the contest, please contact the Museum at 413-528-6888 or bidwellhouse@gmail.com For the animal lover: Marilyn Fracasso will be there with two of her horses to lead children on a fun pony ride. For the young and young-at-heart: There will be games, crafts, face-painting, a scavenger hunt and a fern maze. The Flying Cloud Institute will have a fun project.
