Dinner Church Workshop—Greater Boston Area
“…today a new movement is under way, bringing Christians of every denomination, age, and race together around dinner tables. Men and women nervous about stepping through church doors are finding God in new ways as they eat together.” – Kendall VandersliceJoin Kendall Vanderslice, former Simple Church baker and author of We Will Feast: Rethinking Dinner, Worship, and the Community of God, for a day-long workshop on dinner churches. This event is a fantastic continuing education event for people (lay and clergy alike) who are interested in exploring the dinner church movement, starting a dinner church service of their own, or expanding their thinking about what it means to connect to God and one another through a shared meal. The workshop will include lectures on a Theological Vision of Feasting, Dinner Church and the Eucharist, and Addressing Unique Hungers & Needs, as well as visioning sessions and small group discussions. The day will culminate in a dinner church service.Vanderslice is a graduate of Wheaton College (BA Anthropology), Boston University (MLA Gastronomy), and Duke Divinity School (Master of Theological Studies). She has written for Christianity Today, Religion News Service, and Faith & Leadership. This workshop is designed for Christians of all theological traditions.
