We are excited to welcome to the library Chuck Collins, author of Born on Third Base: A One Percenter Makes the Case for Tackling Inequality, Bringing Wealth Home, and Committing to the Common Good. Collins—the great-grandson of one of America’s iconic industrialists—grew up in the one percent, gave his inheritance away at 26, and became one of the nation’s leading thinkers, writers and activists on solving inequality. Based at the Institute for Policy Studies, his previous books include 99 to 1 and Wealth and Our Commonwealth (with Bill Gates Sr.), and his articles appear in The Nation, The American Prospect, and numerous other magazines and news outlets.

OARS' 10th Wild & Scenic Film Festival

Wild & Scenic Film Festival Fine Arts Theatre Place Maynard, MA The Wild and Scenic Film Festival is returning to Maynard! OARS will host a selection of 2018 award-winning films from the nation's largest environmental film festival. Join us at the Maynard Fine Arts Theatre Place on March 28th beginning at 7 pm (doors open at 6 pm). With the theme GROUNDSWELL, these engaging films inspire activism and transport audiences to the farthest reaches of the globe. Enjoy fabulous film making, gorgeous cinematography, and wonderful storytelling during an evening that offers films about nature, communities, wildlife, agriculture, environmental justice, and indigenous cultures. There's something for everyone in these delightful and informative films. Tickets are $15 for the screening or $30 Introductory Membership (new members)+ticket. Advance purchase recommended. Includes door prizes. Wine and beer will be sold.

About Maynard, MA
Maynard is both a rural and suburban town that encompasses a well defined commercial downtown and open spaces. Housing in Maynard consists of condominiums and single family homes as well as multi-family homes. It is a full service community with full time police and fire service and water and sewer service to 95% of the town. Maynard's townspeople are close knit and caring to their neighbors.

Maynard is geographically small and is ethnically diverse with a history of industrial development. Over one million square feet of mill space was built in the mid 1800's by the Assabet Woolen Mill and is currently occupied by Digital Equipment Corporation.
