Who Will Write Our History
Join those coming together in synagogues, churches, theaters, community centers, mosques and schools around the world to view Who Will Write Our History, which will be seen simultaneously at the UNESCO headquarters in Paris, China, Israel, the Auschwitz Memorial and Museum in Poland, and the Museum of Tolerance in Los Angeles, and 100’s more locations around the world. In Nov 1940, days after the Nazis sealed 450,000 Jews in the Warsaw Ghetto, Roberta Grossman, Director and Producer says, “Polish historian Emanuel Ringelblum, founded a secret organization of 60+ members engaged in spiritual resistance against the Nazis, fighting hatred, lies and propaganda with pen and paper. They wrote and commissioned diaries, essays, jokes, poems, and songs. They also collected artifacts such as photographs...official and underground newspapers...anything that would help future historians tell the story of the Ghetto....On the eve of the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising, they buried 60,000 pages of documentation in the ground in the hopes that the archive would survive, even if they did not....” To keep the collections safe, only three knew the precise locations of these documents…and only one survived. The film uses interviews, rarely seen footage, and dramatizations to transport us inside the Ghetto and the lives of these resistance fighters. There will be a post-screening discussion with Roberta Grossman, Executive Producer Nancy Spielberg, and author, Sam Kassow, moderated by Stephen Smith, of the USC Shoah Foundation and streamed on Facebook Live to all the screenings around the world. Every screening of the movie will be preceded by a #WeRemember trailer and audiences around the world will upload selfies to Facebook holding a #WeRemember sign! Tickets available at the door or on line at the Maynard's Fine Art Theatre. They will be $10.
