Oak Bluffs is a Cape Cod town located on Martha's Vineyard in Massachusetts. The Town of Oak Bluffs was founded as Cottage City in 1880. In 1907 the name was changed because of the fast growing population and the resort needed to recognize that is was not a "Cottage City" any more.
Oak Bluffs is home to the Flying Horses Carousel which is the nation's oldest operating carousel. The carousel is one of two known carousels built by Charles W.F. Dare in 1876.
In the center of town there are hundreds of imaginative and colorful gingerbread cottages. They are the most perfectly preserved collection of Carpenter Gothic style architecture in the world!
