Isolated in the rolling hills of northwest Worcester County heart of the commonwealth, the charming and pictorial town of Oakham has preserved its tranquil and serene atmosphere since its founding as a town in 1762.
The center of town consists of the town hall, a field stone library, church and small circular common which has not changed since the turn of the century.
Oakham has been considered a town for married couples and families. Households are larger than most which is consistent with the family prominence of the town.
