Tours are open to individuals and families. All organizations (e.g., schools, scouts, clubs) and any other parties of 6 or more interested in visiting the MSC should instead sign up for a guided program. More information about guided programs can also be obtained by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org. Persons interested in academic programs at Northeastern should contact David Dawson at email@example.com for further information. Tours will begin at 2:30pm and last approximately 75 minutes. Participants should be prepared to walk and/or stand for the duration of the tour, occasionally along unpaved and uneven terrain. Tours for persons with limited mobility may be arranged by request. All tours are free of charge.
Boston Saengerfest Men's Chorus celebrates its 25th Anniversary with a concert to benefit the Nahant Village Church in a program of audience favorites from the last 25 years. Featured is Nahant's own favorite international soprano soloist, Ute Gfrerer. Saengerfest recently returned from a concert tour to Wales and London's Royal Albert Hall. This is BSMC's first performance on the North Shore.
Nahant is a resort town of rocky coasts in the southernmost part of Essex County. Nahant became a resort Mecca early on. Visitors stayed in boarding houses or private homes and the first hotel was built in 1803.
Steamboats sailed from Nahant to Boston daily and a stage ran from the Nahant Hotel and connected twice daily with coaches running between Boston and Salem. Tourism flourished and year round residents were few.
Beginning in 1870 construction firms started putting up hundreds of summer homes for visitors to the town. In recent times Nahant has protected its expansive beach and causeway and its residential status.
