House of Waters at Race Brook Lodge
House of Waters’ music is both complex and easy to enjoy, a musical exploration that invites listeners to open themselves to new sounds.  One of those sounds is that of Max’s instrument, the hammered dulcimer, a percussion/stringed instrument that takes years of study and spans dozens of cultures around the globe. Most often associated with traditional American and Irish folk music, Max has taken the instrument in entirely new directions.  “I’ve been playing it since I was 7,” says Max. “And my folks reminded me I first fell in love with it when I was 2: I saw it performed at an exhibit opening, walked up to it, sat underneath and just listened to it for hours.”   Book an all-inclusive Barnspace Concert Overnight Package at Race Brook Lodge: https://rblodge.com/event-calendar/2018/august-4-house-of-waters-pool-party 12pm: Doors & Lunch / 2pm: Concert StartsSaturday August 4thPine Grove Porch at Race Brook Lodge864 South Undermountain road ( AKA Rt 41 ) Sheffield, MATicket price: $15 (plus booking fee) / $22 day of show

However, it's the vocal interplay of Frantz and Marlin that is the band's most distinctive calling card" (Rolling Stone). Lean in to the album and you’ll understand why. You’ll hear the way it magnifies the intimacy at the heart of the North Carolina duo’s music, as if they created their own musical language as they recorded it.

The Suitcase Junket at Race Brook Lodge
"From the salvaged sounds of American juke joints, back porches, honky tonks and rock clubs, The Suitcase Junket conjures an entirely new sound in this essential rock collection" —Pile Driver. The Suitcase Junket is Matt Lorenz: artist, tinkerer, swamp yankee, one-man band. His is the road-worn voice rising over the grind of a tube-amped dumpster guitar, with wild double pitches of throat singing. From The Suitcase Junket's penchant for thrift and ingenuity comes this full-length album -- his debut at Signature Sounds -- of original rock anthems, mountain ballads, blues manifestos and dance-hall festivity, played on instruments built of broken bottles, twisted forks, dried bones, gas cans, shoes, saw blades, a toy keyboard, and an overhead compartment’s worth of luggage.
