Creativity Through Children’s Literature 3-Week Writing Workshop
Have you considered writing children’s literature? Do you have ideas about kid lit and are not sure how to get them from head and heart to paper?  Nicole D Cannella, author/ editor of four children’s books and as seen in The NY Times and The Associated Press will be leading a Creativity through Children’s Lit workshop that can help.  In it she will share how she creates her works, tips about both traditional and independent publishing and her insights on how to bring your ideas to fruition. What topics are relevant to children today? How do we manifest said topics into a book that inspires? We will collaborate to create a finished class piece while making time to workshop your own and garner encouraging feedback. Class runs in a three week session and can hold 12 students. Come and create for kids and make time for yourself to be inspired.

Dotloop w/ Jenn Hoyt
Dotloop Learn all the tips and tricks about Dotloop! Jenn shows you how to maximize Dotloop. Learn how to use the documents provided and how to add and share with your clients, other agents and whoever else needs access to these documents. Kids Beginner Ukulele II
CALLING ALL KIDS 8-13 YEARS OF AGE!   If you have completed the Kids' Beginner I Ukulele Program at An Unlikely Story, or the equivalent of about 2 months of ukulele lessons, then you are ready to bring your ukulele skills to the next level.   Join us for six weeks and learn additional ukulele chords and techniques with popular songs that you can sing and play. This program will focusing on rhythm, fundamentals of music, and working together as a group. Come jam with existing ukulele buddies or make some new ones! This class is recommended for ages 8-13 and is offered for 6 weeks from 3:30pm-4:30pm on the FRIDAYS below. 4/275/45/115/18NO CLASS 5/25 HOLIDAY WEEKEND6/1 6/8 All musicians should have their own ukulele (soprano or concert size), tuner, and music stand. ABOUT THE INSTRUCTORS:Lisa Cohen has always known that music moves the deepest parts of her soul. A lifelong "casual" vocalist with experience performing with a variety of local musicians, more recently including The Shed Inspectors and The Splitting Headaches, Lisa explored piano and guitar before realizing the Ukelele as the best tool to support her ongoing personal musical journey. She was one of the original members of the Zukes Ukelele Orchestra, performing with the Wellington Ukelele Orchestra at the Zeiterion Theater in New Bedford in 2015, participates with the Massapoag Uke Strummers in Sharon, the Featherstone Uke Jam on Martha's Vineyard, and many porch and backyard jam sessions across New England. Lisa believes the ukulele is the perfect instrument for those that may have previously believed themselves to be "non-musical". She and Cindy Miller are founders and co-directors of the Unlikely Strummers, and together they have taught ukulele classes at the bookstore and for community education programs since 2017. Lisa is very excited to share the joy of ukulele with new strummers at An Unlikely Story.Cindy Miller has had a lifelong relationship with music. After many years of formal training on flute, guitar, and piano, the ukulele is her most recent instrumental adventure. She is a member of the Zukes Ukulele Orchestra, based at the Zeiterion Theater in New Bedford, and has also played with The Mighty Uketones and the Massapoag Strummers. Cindy has performed at the Cape Cod Ukulele Festival, the Wamsutta Club's "Not Your Average Christmas," New Bedford's "AHA!" (Art, History, Architecture) Nights, the New Bedford Portuguese Festival, the welcoming ceremony for the crew of the Hawaiian voyaging canoe Holukea, Brockton's Fuller Craft Museum, and also as game-day entertainment for the Brockton Rox baseball team, as well as at coffeehouses, open mic nights, and community events in the area. She and Lisa Cohen are founders and co-directors of the Unlikely Strummers, and together they have taught ukulele classes at the bookstore and for community education programs since 2017.  Cindy looks forward to spreading "ukulele love" through our classes!

Unlikely Strummers! Come join us for a jam session evening of music and merriment upstairs on the Second Story. Musicians are encouraged to bring their own ukulele and music stand. If you want to introduce a song to the group, please bring 8-10 extra copies for sharing or a flashdrive with a digital copy, and we'll project your music on the "big screen." The Book as Art - Adult Bookmaking Class
A book can be a work of art! Come explore the possibilities and create your own artist book. In this week-long workshop we will learn the basic techniques and tools of bookmaking while creating our own accordion books. We will also look at concepts of narrative art and how to develop visual language through our books. This is a great introduction to the art of bookmaking! All materials and supplies are included in the price, but participants are encouraged to bring paper, fabric, or other inspiring materials. The class dates for this workshop are May 7th through May 11th from 9:30am-11:30am each day. About Rachel Sawan White: Rachel Sawan White, exhibiting under the name R. Sawan White, is an artist now residing in Rhode Island. After graduating from Loughborough University School of Art and Design in the U.K., she has exhibited her work around the country. Her paintings and etchings are narrative abstractions exploring communication and connection. Over the years she has also shared her love of painting, drawing, and printmaking through teaching and lecturing at the Virginia Museum of Fine Art as well as many other museums, universities, art leagues, and galleries. Adult Ukulele for Beginners
Have you always wanted to play an instrument? Join THE UNLIKELY STRUMMERS for 7 weeks of fun and learn the fundamentals to start your musical journey on the UKULELE. No prior musical experience necessary. You will learn basic chords, rhythms, and strums that will enable you to play songs in no time! Bring your own SOPRANO or ALTO/CONCERT ukulele and music stand. A electronic tuning device such as a Snark Tuner is also recommended. (Note: This program is geared towards Soprano or Alto/Concert Ukes only because the tuning for baritone and tenor ukes is different and therefore the chords will also be different.) This class is recommended for ages 16+ and is offered for 7 weeks on the dates below.
