Oak Meadow School Take-a-Tour Tuesdays
Prospective parents for the 2019-2020 school year are invited to Take-a-Tour Tuesday - an opportunity to tour our school, observe our Montessori classrooms in action and learn more about our programs for children from 15 months through grade 8. No registration required. Parent Ed - Lynne Reeves Griffin RN, MEd
Join us for an evening of discussion about social, emotional, and behavioral learning. Whether you have concerns about your child’s friendships or need new strategies for managing parenting struggles or school relationships, family life expert and author, Lynne Reeves Griffin RN, MEd will create an environment for open, honest, healthy dialogue about nurturing the emotional development of children of all ages. With proactive strategies for age-appropriate learning, there’s so much you can do to help your child build on innate strengths and learn effective ways to manage anxiety, sadness, focused attention, and friendships. Lynne Griffin is a nationally recognized expert on relationships and family life. She is the author of the novels Girl Sent Away (SixOneSeven Books, 2015), Sea Escape (Simon & Schuster, 2010),  Life Without Summer (St. Martin’s Press, 2009), and the nonfiction guides Let’s Talk About It: Adolescent Mental Health (SixOneSeven Books, 2015) and Negotiation Generation: Take Back Your Parental Authority Without Punishment (Penguin, 2007). Lynne teaches family studies, early childhood education, and leadership at the undergraduate and graduate levels at Wheelock College in Boston. She recently completed a second year stint as visiting scholar of education in Singapore. In addition, Lynne teaches fiction writing at Grub Street Writers in Boston and co-created the innovative and intensive program for soon-to-be-published writers called Launch Lab. Her articles have appeared in Brain, Child, Parenting magazine, Scholastic’s Parent & Child, The Writer magazine, The Huffington Post, The Boston Globe, The Drum Literary Magazine, and more.

Summer Preview Day

A free community event! Drop in to sample our full- and half-day summer programs for all ages and explore the musician in you! Learn theatre techniques in Stage It DIY Musical, rock out in the Summer Jams Rock Band, sing and dance in the Music Explorers class for young children, explore diverse musical styles in Summer Day Music ensembles, take it to a higher level in a Chamber Music Intensive ensemble, and more. Ask questions, meet faculty, and register to make music this summer. Free snacks and cool giveaways!

Friday Night Jazz Jam

Listen to a swinging set by our jazz faculty trio followed by a casual jam session open to the public. Featuring popular Boston-area jazzers Eric Baldwin (guitar), Justin Meyer (bass), and Dave Fox (drums). Stay to sit in and play, or just listen! Jazz instrumentalists and vocalists of all ages and levels are welcome to come and play their favorite standards or learn new charts.
