About Ipswich, MA
Ipswich Massachusetts was settled in 1625 and is still home to 50 antique houses from the First Period (1625-1725)-more than any other town in New England. Ipswich is situated along Routes 1A and Route 133 and is also accessible from Route 1, which makes it conveniently and scenically located. Ipswich is surrounded by Essex, Rowley, Topsfield, Hamilton and Ipswich Bay.

Ipswich is home to beautiful Crane's Beach and the Crane Wildlife Refuge. The beach is long, clean and loaded with dunes! While in Ipswich be sure to visit Castle Hill with its views and Great House which reflects great wealth. Tours are offered and are an exceptional value. Another quick ride and close by is Great Neck and Little Neck which offers views across Ipswich Bay to Plum Island.

On the road to Crane's Beach you will come upon Russell's Orchard. Here you can pick your own fresh fruit in season (apples, strawberries, blueberries, etc.) or purchase them already hand picked for you. There are also hayrides, farm animals, a winery, an ice cream parlor and one of the best bakeries in the area. Mouth watering home made pies, strawberry shortcake, and cider doughnuts are available and well worth the trip!

DID YOU KNOW: That Ipswich is home to one of the few wolf sanctuaries in the United States? You can actually get close and not too personal with real live wolves living in captivity at Wolf Hollow. While visiting you are cautioned not to look a wolf in the eye or show him your teeth! But relax!! The North American Wolf Foundation contends that the wolf can co-exist with humans and other mammals. They just need to be understood and respected - Don't we all??!!
