Girl Scout Daisy Robotics Badges
In our Girl Scout Daisy Robotics workshops, Daisies will earn Robotic badges by focusing on the concepts of robotics, computer programming and the languages that coders use. Daisies will be introduced to algorithmic thinking and will partake in hands-on games and crafts to solidify these concepts and their use of them in real-life applications. Daisies will also be exposed to career pathways connected to programming and robotics.  The 3 badges are  Daisy Badge 1: What do Robots do?   (2-hour workshop / Price: $40 per Girl) Robots are machines that can follow instructions to complete a job. There are lots of robots around us! In this 2 hr team-based workshop, Daisies will learn about the many things that Robots can be designed to do.   Daisy Badge 2: How do Robots Move?  (2-hour workshop / Price: $40 per Girl)  Robots move in many different ways. Some Robots are ball shaped and roll, some have legs and can walk or even crawl like a spider, Some move on wheels like a car and some move on tracks like a Tank. In this 2 hr team based workshop, Daisies will learn about the different parts of these Robots and understand how they move. We will also have some fun learning to instruct them to move. Daisy Badge 3 - Design a Robot     (2-hour workshop / Price: $40 per Girl) Robots are designed to do jobs that are perhaps too repetitive or dangerous or really hard for humans. In this 2 hr team based workshop, Daisies will identify an everyday problem that is best suited for a Robot and sketch out a solution on paper. We will then build a prototype with LEGO’s and create step by step instruction for the Robot. We will test the instructions on the prototype and work on improving the prototype.

Brownies will also be exposed to career pathways connected to programming and robotics.  The 3 Brownie Robotic badges are  Brownie Badge 1: Programming Robots  (2.5-hour workshop / Price: $40 per Girl ) Robots are simple machines programmed to run automatically. In this 2.50 hr team based workshop, Brownies will learn how to create a program that can be run by a Robot. Brownie Badge 2: Designing Robots  (2.5-hour workshop / Price: $40 per Girl)  Robots are designed to help people and animals. In many cases the Robot designs are inspired by humans or animals. In this 2.50 hr team based workshop, Brownies will team up to identify an everyday problem that is best suited for a Robot and sketch out a solution on paper drawing inspiration from humans or animals. They will then build a prototype with LEGO’s and create step by step instruction for the Robot. They will test the instructions on the prototype and work on improving the prototype. Brownie Badge 3: Showcasing Robots  (2.5-hour workshop / Price: $40 per Girl) Engineers in real world share their work to teach others and get feedback. In this 2.50 hr team based workshop, Brownies will team up with her Badge 2 team mate to create a multi-media presentation. We will work with the brownies to help share their presentations at various places places and our clubs. They will also learn about Robotics teams and competitions from our Clubs

Club Z - SAT/ACT Bootcamp - January 20th & 27th 2019
If you are taking the SAT or the ACT  you need to understand the strategies and tactics that will help you avoid the "traps" each test presents and achieve a higher score. This "hands on" workshop will walk you through proven strategies for all sections of each test (ACT/SAT) and show you how to implement these strategies on test day. For those taking only the SAT the workshop will end at 12:15. Those students taking the ACT will stay until 1for the Science module. Due to increased demand we are offering this workshop on two separate days, Sunday, January 20, 2019 and Sunday, January 27, 2019.  In each workshop you will take "mini-tests" for each test section and you will learn: how to manage your time to maximize your score; how the test takers have designed the test to trip you up, and how to avoid those traps; specific strategies for each section of the test that will help you identify the correct answer in the shortest amount of time; how to avoid the careless mistakes that adversely impact your score; and, how guessing on certain questions can actually IMPROVE your score. This workshop is a MUST for any student taking the SAT or the ACT in 2019. You will leave this workshop with the knowledge you need to maximize your score and the confidence you need to perform your best.

Erin Harpe & the Delta Swingers
Erin Harpe has been called one of the most dynamic, talented and exciting roots rocking blues women on the scene by Living Blues Magazine. Winner of the 2018 Boston Blues Challenge, and nominated for 2018 Blues Artist of the Year by the Boston Music Awards, Erin is having an exciting year. Brought up on delta and piedmont blues, which she learned from her dad, Erin recently entered and won the Boston Blues Challenge playing solo. Shell be headed off to Memphis in January to represent Boston at the 2019 International Blues Challenge! On top of that, Erin Harpe & the Delta Swingers were nominated for Blues Artist of the Year this year alongside local greats and friends James Montgomery, Peter Parcek and Danielle Miraglia among others.
