Sailors Series Talk: Azorean Whaleboat Design & Regatta - Bruce Halabiski
In the remote North Atlantic the whaleboats of the Azores evolved over a hundred years to become some of the most beautiful and efficient working vessels in the world. With a shocking amount of sail area and a needle-like bow they are the product of intense competition and a demanding environment, realized through the skill of a few Portuguese boatbuilders. Explore the rich heritage of the Azorean whaleboat with Bruce Halabisky: from design through restoration, and its emergence as a modern international racing class. Halabisky worked under master builder João Tavares on the construction of the first Azorean whaleboat to be built in 50 years, Bela Vista, which was launched in 1997 and later donated to the New Bedford Whaling Museum. He has been a frequent contributor to Wooden Boat Magazine and in 1999 he co-authored the book "Twice Round the Loggerhead – the Culture of Whaling in the Azores" with Lance R. Lee. The Sailors' Series is supported by Ruth and Hope Atkinson, and supported in part by The Samuel D. Rusitzky Lecture Fund. Additional support comes from Babbitt Steam Specialty, Burr Brothers Boats and Luzo Auto Center. Reception 6 pm; presentation 6:30 pm. Reservations strongly recommended.

Yoga Teacher Reboot [aka the un-training]
A WHO, WHAT, WHERE, WHY, WHEN, AND HOW APPROACH TO REVITALIZING YOUR TEACHINGQuestions. A very intriguing teacher of mine is known for saying "ask every question". This baseline of questioning will provide course work to map out aspects of pedadgogy, communication, understanding, vulnerability, and of course, the yoga practice.Once we have mapped out our teaching style, we can redraw our boundaries through inviting mentorship, collegiality, and the experience of a trained eye into your already established practice of teaching.Juliet has strategically created a 30 hour process that is similar to a training, except it’s what she describes as an “un-training”. In this process, there will be a jump toward what’s next for you as a teacher of yoga. Whether that be the ample revitalizing and rebooting to feel recharged as a teacher, or the initiation of becoming more contemplative, perhaps its a more thorough personal practice, or maybe you are looking to start slowly back toward the more formal YTT commitment. The list of reasons to attend this REBOOT is long, but the investment is easy on your time and wallet.ONLY 8-10 spots available.8 payments of $75Single payment of $580Part of the payment can be forwarded toward 300YTT in 2020.Continuing Education credits through YA.THE ACT OF TEACHINGVULNERABILITIES IN TEACHINGDIRECTION/DIRECTNESS FOR TEACHINGHUSTLESTRUCTUREPOSTURE CLINIC
