Welcome to Worcester Community Action Council
Worcester Community Action Council’s (WCAC) mission is helping people move to economic self-sufficiency through programs, partnerships, and advocacy. WCAC was started in 1965 under President Lyndon B. Johnson’s “War on Poverty.” It is the federally designated “community action agency” for Central MA. Today, the agency serves the City of Worcester and 45 surrounding towns through emergency and social service programs.
Community Clinics
WCAC’s Resiliency Center is pleased to host a series of monthly Community Clinics where community partners from throughout the region will gather in one spot together, to assist individuals interested in learning more about community resources available to them. Clinics will be held monthly in the Walnut Wing Conference Room of WCAC’s main office at 18 Chestnut Street, Worcester. The clinics are free to attend and open to all.
Head Start recruiting for Fall 2024
WCAC's Head Start program is recruiting for fall 2024 enrollment. With centers located in Southbridge, Webster and now in East Brookfield and Leicester, we offer a dynamic program to get your child ready for school. Full day, half-day, year round and school year classrooms available.
Community Baby Shower
WCAC's Healthy Families of Southern Worcester County program will host its 17th Annual Community Baby Shower on Wednesday, May 15 from 1-4 p.m. The event features a variety of vendors offering community resources and activities of interest to new or soon-to-be parents, along with raffles and door prizes. Not to be missed is the ever-popular Baby Boutique featuring gently used clothing for infants and toddlers! Admission is FREE and open to all.
